What does the Paris Cybathletic Club offer?

This non-profit organization has multiple purposes:

  • Provide arm prosthesis users with opportunities to practice performing everyday life tasks in a playful way with their own prosthesis, in a dedicated and safe setting
  • Promote the use and improvement of active technical assistive devices (prostheses, exoskeletons, assistance robots
  • Offer a space where prosthesis users, care persons and technology providers can share their experience around sport and physical activities
What is cybathletics?

Cybathletics is a sport stemming directly from Cybathlon, an international competition with a unique concept. In this competition, the contestants are athletes with disabilities, who use the most advanced active assistive devices to complete tasks inspired by everyday life.

Who can join?

For the moment, the PCC offers a practice course for the arm prosthesis race (Cybathlon’s ARM category) only. In this race, pilots must perofrm with their prosthesis a diversity of tasks such as carry and manipulate various objects, hang clothes, screw a lightbulb or drive a nail with a hammer. Many motor skills are required to achieve these tasks, including agility, strength, two-hand coordination and access to multiple gripping postures with the hand.

Anyone with an arm disability and equipped with an active prosthesis (mechanical or myoelectric) can join the club. Underage members can join on condition that they are accompanied by an adult. For all members, up to two accompagnying persons are welcome to the club’s session (relatives, care persons etc.). Registration is mandatory.
